The FireRay 3000 is an optical beam smoke detector which is used to cover large open spaces where normal optical ceiling mounted sensors wouldn't be suitable. This product works by emitting an beam from the transmitter that's sent to the receiver. If smoke is detected by the beam the alarm is triggered. This FireRay 3000 has an adjustable sensitivity level, which means the alarm activation point can be set to suit many applications for example in environments where exhaust fumes or dust are present.
