This Apollo Alarmsense optical smoke sensor works by an internal LED which regularly pulse's and a photo diode set at an angle of more than 90 degrees. If a pre-set limit of smoke enters the encased chamber the light generated by the LED pulse will be diffused and detected by the photo diode. The safety device will enter a state of alarm and the will give an LED indicator that smoke has been detected.
